The User Rights Policy are a set of rules that must be followed when managing moderation roles (e.g. Content and Discussion Moderators, Administrators, and Bureaucrats), alongside procedures for choosing, promoting, alongside demoting moderators.
Below will be a set of policies that are to be followed by high-ranking moderators on the wiki. For moderators, it is highly recommended to read this page fully.
Moderation role policies
The main moderation roles of this wiki are Rollbackers, Content Moderators, Discussion Moderators, Administrators (also called sysops), alongside Bureaucrats. These also include Server Police (Discord Moderators) and Server Administrators as well.
The promotion process for most of these roles are usually the same, the exception being Bureaucrats, whose promotion is stated in the 'Eligibility' section.
Eligibility
Standard moderation role eligibility
When attempting to get promoted to a moderation role, the only way to do so is through wiki moderator applications that are open at random times, however is usually because of a lack of moderators on the team.
To be eligible for promotion, a user must:
- Have 320 edits or more (is not needed for Discord moderators)
- Have 50 posts or more
- Be active five days prior to the application's opening
- Have applied for the moderation role
Users may not ask any other high-ranking moderators for a promotion, as these requests are to be ignored or denied instantly.
Bureaucratic eligibility
For Bureaucrat eligibility, users are not required to fill out the application form in order to be promoted. However, to be eligible for a promotion to Bureaucrat, a user must also be:
- An administrator of the wiki
- Have 780 edits or more
- Have 270 posts or more
- Clear of all past block records (e.g. Abuse of power) This will also result in the user being demoted if said user does have a block record.
- Be active five days prior to the application's opening, and the duration of said application
Rollbacker eligibility
Unlike other moderation roles, a user can not receive the Rollbacker role through moderator applications, and can only be received through administrator request. However, to be eligible for the role, a user must have:
- Have a minimum of 870 edits and 590 posts
- Clear of all past block records (e.g. Abuse of power) This will also result in the user being demoted if said user does have a block record.
- Must be an active editor on the wiki
Promotion process
When a user has been accepted into the moderation team, said user is given a set trial starting from the release of the moderator application results. During the trial, the user must attempt to be active, and to have done some moderation actions as well. Bureaucrats, however, will not be placed under the trial, instead receiving the role permanently when the results have been released.
After the set trial has ended, moderators will be evaluated in order to select which moderators will be promoted to their permanent roles. If a moderator has remained active throughout the trial, said moderator will be promoted. If not, said moderator will instead be demoted.
Promotion process for moderators to Administrator
To qualify for promotion to an Administrator, the user must request the role through the wiki's Discord server, more specifically the ticket system. The user must also be:
- A Discussions (Thread) and/or Content Moderator. Roles below these two roles are not eligible for promotion in any way.
- Have at least 200 edits and 50 posts (This is not necessary, and only serves as a recommendation)
- Clear of all past block records (e.g. Abuse of power) This will also result in the user being demoted if said user does have a block record.
- Active on the main wiki (Moderators are not required to be extremely active in order to be promoted)
If these requirements have been satisfied, the moderator will be promoted by a Bureaucrat. Bureaucrats can also promote Discussions (Thread) and Content Moderators to the role if the moderator agrees to do so.
Demotion process
The demotion process will only take place if a moderator has been chosen to be demoted, has been inactive for more than 12 days, or has resigned from the moderation team. For inactive cases, a high-rank moderator will demote said moderator if notified. For demotions, a vote will be held on the Discord server regarding on if a moderator should be demoted.
For resignations, the resigning moderator must notify a high-rank moderator of their resignation and to send a request to be demoted. If a moderator is part a high-rank moderation role (e.g. Bureaucrat), said moderator must contact Fandom staff in order to be demoted.
Discord Moderator/Administrator demotion process
For the demotion process for Discord Moderators and/or Administrators, it will only take place if a moderator has been chosen to be demoted, has been inactive for more than 12 days, or has resigned from the moderation team. For demotion and/or inactive cases, a high-rank moderator will demote said moderator if notified.
For resignations, the resigning moderator must notify a high-rank moderator of their resignation and to send a request to be demoted.
Emergency promotions
When an emergency happens (e.g. Wiki raid) during a lack of moderators, a Bureaucrat can temporarily promote a minimum of 5 Content and/or Discussion Moderators to the role of Administrator. These temporary right will be in effect at the minimum of one week, however can be extended if the emergency continues.
For moderators on the Discord server, the same procedure will be replicated.
Interwiki blocks
In the case that a rulebreaker on the fanon wiki is a moderator in this wiki, said user will have their moderator privileges revoked temporarily, and blocked the same amount of time as stated on the fanon wiki.
Re-promoting a former moderator
If a former moderator has chosen to return to the moderation team, said moderator will have to go through the application process as if they have been promoted for the first time, and will also have to go through the 30-day trial as well.
