Gnarpy is an NPC that can be found in-game and will enter the elevator.

Appearance

Gnarpy is a chartreuse-green, bipedal humanoid cat-like alien with darker green fur patterns on xyr arms, paws, legs, ears, and tail. Gnarpy has four upright cat ears, 2 intersecting each other on both sides of their head alongside four arms. Xyr paws have 4 yellow pads surrounded by a darker green color, with a 4 pointed dark green star pattern on the center pad. Xe also features 6 black whiskers with yellow spheres at the ends on their cheeks and two tails with neon yellow stingers on the ends. Gnarpy has four black almond-shaped eyes, with two smaller than the rest, and a square-like cat smile. Xe also wears sleeveless armour, boots, and armbands with varying colors, though they are usually depicted as crimson. A yellow 4-pointed star is placed on the top right corner of Gnarpy's armor.

Gnarpy's previous appearance had a blocky model with green fur, alien antennae, and a green tail with a golden glowing tip at the end. Xyr eyes appeared to be slanted in and closed, there was also a yellow star on Gnarpy's chest, and xyr legs had a line pattern. Xe was also "fluffy," having a head, cheek, shoulder, and neck fur. However, Gnarpy's old design was removed due to the original creator's poor reputation and replaced with the current appearance.

In xyr 2024 April Ghouls' Update appearance, Gnarpy no longer has armor and xe only has their top row of eyes, which are moved up to where xyr ears are. Their whiskers are also missing.

Description

Gnarpy's green spaceship malfunctions in the forest in the Two Stud Camp floor, crashing into the secret area of the camp, where xe will proceed to sneak into the elevator. There is a 50/50 chance for either xe or Spud! to enter the elevator on the floor. If the player throws a Snowball, Tomato, Bowling Ball, C4, using Spray Bottle, or Tiny Foamer on Gnarpy multiple times, xe will zap the player using the star on their armor, dealing 50 damage to them.

Gnarpy is consistently shown in dialogue to be loud and aggressive, thinking of themself as superior to everyone else. Unlike Pest, who acts in a similarly antisocial manner, Gnarpy is never shown to have any friendly interactions with any NPCs. Gnarpy frequently replaces any "s"s with "z"s in their dialogue, with them occasionally peppering said dialogue with made-up alien words, usually as insults.

Gnarpy will exit the elevator on the Slide 4 Admin, Backrooms, Cardboard Mansion, and Turret floors.

• Gnarpy was originally designed by AFRMation on Twitter, however got redesigned due to extremely negative controversy involving them.
  • Gnarpy was a Regretevator OC before being added to the game.
• Players are able to get the "CRASH LANDING" badge by meeting Gnarpy for the first time.
  • If you die before the UFO invasion ends, you will not receive the badge, meaning you must survive the event to get the badge.
• Gnarpy does not currently have a sitting animation, causing xem to slide in the Slide 4 Admin floor T-posing.
• If MR is in the elevator, Gnarpy will not enter the elevator; instead, xe will continue running, presumably to find another hiding spot.
• Xe currently has the most models, with four models in total.
• Gnarpy has 4 on sale UGC items.
  • Xe used to have more, but they were taken offsale due to the original creators negative reputation.
• Gnarpy's previous audio for when xe got hit with a snowball or sprayed is originally from Deltarune. Specifically, the screaming sound Noelle makes when Maus gets near her in the mouse puzzle rooms.
• Gnarpy's talking audio is originally from the "guy who forgot to turn off their voice changer in class" video. According to the same guy, he accidentally bumped into the Synth effect of the Roland VT-3 vocal effect processor before asking the question, causing him to sound the way he does in the video. In-game, the clip is sped up by around 25%.
• This is one out of two NPCs that uses a skinned mesh, with the other being Folly.
  • Likely due to this, when spectating xem with the "Snap to Head" option enabled, the camera does not attach to xyr head, instead being stuck above their root.
• Gnarpy is based on the :gnarpy: emoji in The Axolotl Sun official Discord server created by pizzacruzt on Discord. After their redesign, this emoji was removed.
• Gnarpy is one of the seven NPCs that are able to enter the elevator and harm players, the others being DrRETRO, Mannequin_Mark, PartyNoob, Reddy, Spud!, and RAT.
• The 2024 April Fools' Update version of Gnarpy completely lacks animations.
• Even though Gnarpy's armor comes in different colors, the NPC chat UI used to always show Gnarpy wearing red armor.
• Alongside Bive and Split, there will be a toggle to switch between Gnarpy's skinned mesh and a blocky version of xyr current design.

• According to multiple pieces of dialogue, the name of Gnarpy's species is "Gnarpians".
