FleshCousin is an NPC that can be found in-game, and will enter the elevator.

Appearance

FleshCousin will have the same avatar as a randomly selected player in the server, except for the face, which is a slightly distorted version of the default (Smile) face.

Its undisguised form has been shown to be a gray R6 rig wearing what resembles a piece of paper on its head with a crudely drawn smile face.

Description

Unlike other NPCs, FleshCousins are said in lore to be an entire species of entities rather than just one member. They aren't fully sentient, with animalistic intelligence comparable to birds or fish.

The FleshCousin we see in-game is reportedly always the same one. According to Yeuc_c, it is confused and lost.

FleshCousins speak entirely in a word salad vaguely relating to things spoken or done to them, with them rarely speaking in a coherent manner. FleshCousins also have a tendency to mimic the speech of other NPCs in the elevator, although their words will still remain incoherent, much to the irritation of others.

Once the Happy Birthday? floor comes up, FleshCousin will first be seen as a cake topper. But once the Happy Birthday music starts, they say, "It's my birthday!" and will soon step out of the cake and enter the elevator. FleshCousin mimics the player closest to them when the elevator doors open.

FleshCousin is capable of spawning through the "Painting Panel" Elevator Event if Scag is already in the elevator.

On the Funny Maze floor, a FleshCousin can be seen wandering undisguised around the floor under the name "Fleshy".

FleshCousin will exit on the Backrooms, Cardboard Mansion, Two Stud Camp, Button Competition, Ballpit, Floppy Shoppy, Infected Apartment, 3008 and The Subway floors.

It will accept almost all items except for the Magic Mirror, Kitty, and Cooler.

• The creator of FleshCousin is im_cops, although they didn't make the lore for the species. The name was given by biscuitjon.
• Once hovered, the name will be the same as the player the NPC has copied, with a "..?" at the end of it.
• Players are able to get the "I think I've seen you somewhere" badge by having the FleshCousin disguise itself as themselves.
• If the player is playing alone in a server, it's guaranteed that FleshCousin will disguise themselves as them.
  • This can be an easier way to obtain their respective badge.
• FleshCousin uses an edited version of the original Half Life 2 Headcrab Zombie noise when it speaks.
• If it spawns in the cage on the singleplayer version of the Jeremy's Domain floor, it initially appears undisguised.
  • When the player rescues FleshCousin and gets it in the elevator, it begins to mimic the player's appearance like normal.
• If MR is in the elevator or it is full, FleshCousin will have a frowning version of its smile, walk to its left, and jump up a ventilation duct, dropping the cover and a coin.
• Originally, if even one player had their music volume down, the Happy Birthday? room's lights would not turn on, and FleshCousin would not enter the elevator as a result.
  • This has since been fixed.
• The idle dialogue lines "Is what you yes?" "Who had you was?" "Did you whatever," "whatever you I guess?" and "It was catastro, catastro-feeling good" are all lyrical references to the song "Stuff Is Way" by They Might Be Giants.
  • FleshCousin's dialogue has multiple references to music. Other references include "I've Seen Footage" and "Hacker" by Death Grips.
• FleshCousin's look in-game is drastically different to its previous render.
  • This is because DaftCinderss (the contributor who created the renders) was given permission to make them look fleshy.
• When a spike goes through FleshCousin, a skin color dust comes out.
• FleshCousins used to be called Skinwalkers.
• While speaking, FleshCousin tends to use multiple rhymes or alliteration in their dialogue.
• FleshCousin mistakes the Flash Beacon's flash for the sun and panics.
• FleshCousin will accept Wet Cement as a gift.
• FleshCousin is currently one of only 5 NPCs that can have a conversation with their own clone, the others being PartyNoob, Pest, Prototype and Pilby.

• Yeuc_c stated that the FleshCousin copies the look of other players because of their natural instincts, since one of their survival methods include mimicry of other species in their environment.
  • They also compared FleshCousins to stingrays, claiming they will only attack if threatened. This is not reflected in-game, as it does no harm to the player, though it would later be referenced in the LOGS FC-102 Floppy.
  • There are imperfections with how FleshCousin mimics others.
    Yeucc has also stated that Flesh cousin is not fully sentient, its sentience comparable to one of a "parrot mixed with a fish".
• Flesh cousin has the same mental capacity as an animal.
• Under the "paper" mask of FleshCousin is just a hole.
  • Nothing is inside this hole, it's just a pit.
  • However, if you have its' model and move its' mask, it will show a normal R6 head.
  • Said piece of paper is actually a flab of skin.
• The reason that FleshCousin exits on The Subway floor and walks directly onto the tracks is because it wants to board the train but does not know how.

  • Additionally, the above Tumblr post confirms that after imitating someone, FleshCousins may retain aspects of the thing they imitated for a short time.
  • As well as this, FleshCousins do not directly imitate the exact cellular form of another person, imitating using the cells that they already have.
• FleshCousins alter their voices in an attempt to mimic other people, but it comes out garbled.
• According to an interaction with Reddy, the burgers in Reddy's Underground Diner are mostly made of FleshCousin meat.
