This article is about the space sometimes referred to as the 'Regretevator'. For the game known as 'Regretevator', please head over to this article.
The Elevator (also known as the Regretevator) is a space that players can enter in the lobby, and is also where the gameplay takes place in.
Appearance
The elevator appears as a small elevator with wooden walls and metal trim. All of the space's walls, except for the elevator door and the small space on the door's right side have railings placed in between the lower and upper walls.
The elevator's floor has a concrete-like texture, alongside a black-colored metallic layer with the The Axolotl Sun logo placed in the middle.
On the ceiling, there are five circular light fixtures and a security camera to the top right corner of the ceiling.
To the left of the elevator door, there is a counter showing how many floors a specific server has experienced, and to the right side of the elevator door is another counter, this time showing how much time is left before the next floor is chosen.
To the right of the elevator door underneath the intermission timer is a set of eight buttons that players can interact with, along with another set of four buttons that players can use to buy things. The four buttons can give a player the option to select a floor using a Floor Ticket or 80 Robux, a prompt to purchase an elevator event for 120 Robux, 1 or 10 glowing Squishys for 150 or 1500 coins respectively, and 1 or 10 voombas for 200 or 2000 coins respectively.
On the back wall of the elevator, there are three panels, making up an image of a sunset on the beach. However, these panels can turn at random, revealing a random image that will last for a few floors, before eventually turning back to the beach image. Occasionally, the center panel will fall forward as a ramp, introducing Scag into the elevator.
Interaction(s)
The elevator serves as an intermission area for players in-between floors. Several different things can alter the elevator throughout the course of a player's play time, such as random Elevator Events or NPCs entering the elevator.
Elevator Events

Elevator events are random occurrences that happen within the elevator. These events often vary in significance and danger. Events that can occur are:
- A broken air conditioning unit spewing smoke into the elevator, hurting players and NPCs.
- Vents underneath the railings spewing fire, hurting players.
- Confetti spraying out from where the lights used to be.
- Vents underneath the railings spewing cold air, turning the floor to slippery ice.
- The elevator losing power and rapidly descending, sending players into the air and slamming them into the ground, hurting them.
- Coins falling out where the lights used to be.
- The railing turning white hot, hurting players that touch it.
- JAOBA crawling across the ceiling.
- Four echoey knocks emanating from the door.
- The lights blinking in morse code.
- Mozelle descending from the center light.
- The paintings in the back flip over to reveal a different image.
- The center painting falls forward to add Scag to the elevator.
- The floor counter text changing into random text or emojis.
- The cailing of the elevator descending, squishing every player.
- Spikes descending from where the lights used to be, killing players and NPCs below them.
- Water pouring in from one of the lights, flooding the elevator and dropping a Fish inside.
- A TV descends above the door and plays a random animation.
- WilliamPlayz57 flies into the elevator and does any number of random things, such as spawning an NPC.
Other Events
Some floors will cause the elevator to shake when they show up. These floors are:
- After Eva
- Backrooms
- Elevator Shaft
- Four Corners
- Glorp N' Go
- Gumball Machine (only when DrRETRO spawns)
- HALL OF
- Sebastian's Wares
- Turret
- Sound of Sci-fi
- Snowy Slope
Some floors will cause the lights of the elevator to turn off when they show up. These floors are:
Spectating
On the top right corner of the roof, a camera referred to as "ELEVATOR_CAM" can be seen, which is used to spectate over the elevator. While spectating, if a player clicks or taps on a NPC's/player's name and/or other cameras, the player will switch their POV to the selected option's POV. Players are put into spectator if they enter the elevator while a floor is in progress or if something happens that forces said players to spectate, such as falling into the meat grinder on Dance Party or falling into the void of Temple of, Something.
Floor Streaks
While actively playing the main game without dying, players can accumulate a floor streak. Every time a player survives a floor, an indicator of their streak will appear above their hotbar, displaying how many floors in a row they have survived. For every 10 consecutive floors a player survives, they will be awarded 10 Coins and the indicator of their streak count will change color. A player's streak can be seen at all times in the bottom right corner.

Trivia
- WilliamPlayz57 is the only NPC that can directly modify the elevator.
- Prototype can modify the elevator with Subspace Tripmines spawned by his boxes, but this is a more indirect method.
- If WilliamPlayz57 paints the elevator, it's guaranteed that no image will show when the panels turn.
- The panel images are from other images found in-game, with a couple exceptions.
- Frightening Floor, Happy Home Party, Hole in the Wall, and Infected Apartment are the few floors that can interact with the elevator.
- At the beginning of some floors, the elevator will kick players out until the floor ends.
- The only exception to this is the Happy Home Party floor, which kicks players out halfway through the floor.
- If a player resets while spectating, players can see a void with a glowing brick showing an image of Q, Sal, Joe, and Murr, from the series Impractical Jokers pointing to the viewer.
- This image can also be seen if the player currently being spectated dies, and will continue being visible until a different player is selected.
- The Squish and Spike events used to be their own floors.
- The elevator has some songs that were removed from the game. Most of them were removed due to the songs being reused without permission.
- The song "Silly Elevator" was removed for that exact reason. The original song was "Small Unless False", by Deelatch.[2]
- The song "Regret Theme" was added to the game around a year ago, but was never officially released until April 28th 2024.[3]
- During the 2024 April Ghouls' Update, one of FleshCousin's idle dialogues mentions that the elevator is 97 years old, suggesting the elevator has existed since 1927. [4] Since this dialog originated from an April Fools joke update that was reverted after the event was over and is actually a reference to a pre-existing meme, it is debatable if this is canon.
- The color of the floor streak counter changes for every 10 floors survived.
- 1-9 floors: White
- 10-19 floors: Light Blue
- 20-29 floors: Aqua
- 30-39 floors: Green
- 40-49 floors: Yellow
- 50-59 floors: Orange
- 60-69 floors: Red
- 70-79 floors: Magenta
- 80-89 floors: Purple
- 90-100 floors: Dark Blue
- After floor 100 the colours repeat from the beginning.
- Prior to the 12/21/2024 update[5], the colour stopped changing at floor 100 and remained dark blue for the remainder of the streak.
- The elevator in the Lobby is noticeably brighter than the one during travel.
- Before the introduction of the Eternal Limbo floor, Folly was an elevator event NPC.
- According to yeuc_c in a stream, the elevator is alive.[6]
- The panel image function changed in the 10/12/24 update.
- The elevator talked in the chat during the S.T.A.T's Domain floor premiere.
