The 2024 April Ghouls' Update is a major update that took place on 4/1/24, during April Fools' Day. It has now been archived into a separate game called April Ghouls' Regretevator, but will not receive any new updates.
Changes[]
In this update, several major additions were added in, such as a heavily changed lobby, which is a distorted version of the regular lobby. Some of the additions were stone-textured Banrey clones placed all around the lobby, enlarged character models, new dialogues for some of the lobby NPCs, an entirely new basement floor, and dollar symbols being placed above the elevator.
In the main part of the game, there can also be seen decals being placed around the elevator and some parts of floors, and the addition of several new update-exclusive NPCs, such as FREAK, an NPC that could spawn in several floors and would damage players.
The update also brought in new meme-like designs and names for the NPCs, alongside some update-exclusive NPC animations. In-game items, however, were not updated with a new look, with an exception of the Fizz Jug and Fizz Up!, which had its pink-colored parts colored light blue, and the Ifone, having an increased chance of jumpscaring the player when used. Several horror aspects were also added in the game, an example being the map suddenly being covered in a black fog in some occasions. Whilst playing the update, players could also be teleported into entirely new servers at random.
For the GUIs, several new options were added in the Settings menu, those being; Hard mode, Freaky mode, and Rio de Janeiro mode. All presumably giving a decorative effect on the player's screen. However, one of the settings, that being Freaky Mode, can not be toggled by players, with the menu itself now having a new font.
The main menu had also been modified, with the game title being a poorly-drawn 'FortNight' logo, alongside a new thumbnail that consisted of a Fortnite character and a warning. The update log had also been modified, having a red color, alongside some joke text. A picture arrow with a white background could also be seen as well to the right alongside some text below.

- The update comes with 3 exclusive modes in the settings.
- Hard Mode makes the game harder by having a stretched out stop sign appear every indefinite amount of time at the bottom of the screen with a church bell chiming as an indicator to stop moving. If the player doesn't stop moving while the event UI is still mostly present, they lose 50 HP.
- Freaky Mode is inaccessible.
- Rio de Janeiro makes the words "Rio de Janeiro" pop up on your screen and adds a blue-purple gradient to your screen. This only goes away if you turn the mode off.
- This is based off of Instagram's Rio de Janeiro filter.
- Due to Mannequin_Mark being changed to resemble glevil, if the player gets close to him, they will be locked in front of him. The player is then killed instantly, like what happens with glevil, but with a broken animation.
